It's good to be back

I can't believe that it's been over two months since I've posted something here in my blog. It's not because I've been sick, and it's not because I gave up the internet for Lent. It's been a coming-together of a number of things. A short vacation, the coming transition here at St. Bridget, Lent . . . with so many "established" things taking my time, this new one (blogging), where I'm still finding my voice, has suffered.

One thing that continues, of course, is the ongoing work at the parish, which is one of the reasons for this blog. I've made a commitment to post my homilies here, along with some of the internal conversation that goes along with them. Writing and giving a homily is one of the most intense things that I do. I really "sweat it out" in the creation process. Trying thoughts and words on, fits and false starts, building up & tearing down, trying to say something worth saying. Sadly, I almost never am able to write a homily ahead of time. Life would be so much easier if I could somehow do that -- get into that frame of mind.

Anyway, there are now several homilies that I've written in the last 2+ months, so I'll have more posts to come in the next few days. I'll also start making more reference to this blog in the parish bulletin and other places -- I'd like to generate some give/take with parishioners, especially since that's why I wanted to start this to begin with.
